VLEs: Beyond the Fringe and Into the Mainstream
Date:2004
This eight day conference looked at the use of Virtual Learning
Environments, and ways to embed them into the teaching and learning
practices of colleges and universities. With over 260 delegates,
from the school, college and university sector, most delegates were
based in the UK, with some delegates from abroad.
The conference featured 18 workshop sessions and 17 papers and
presentations, it was a very busy, but very rewarding, conference.
As one delegate said:
"...absolutely wonderful - can't praise it enough
in quality of keynote papers and responses. I was inspired whilst
sitting at my desk on a Friday afternoon!"
Although this conference ran over eight days, there were six days
of proceedings. Each conference day had different papers and workshops,
exercises and social interaction.
Following the conference, we wrote a paper based on the conference
proceedings, which aims to provide guidance to organisations seeking
to mainstream their use of VLEs. This is available from http://ferl.qia.org.uk/display.cfm?resID=7719.
